A man with a beard and blue eyes, wearing a navy blue cardigan with white and red patterns and a maroon polo shirt, smiling softly, against a dark gray background.

Benjamin Linowitz is a mathematician and writer whose work explores where mathematics meets art, philosophy, and cultural history. His academic work centers on the geometry of arithmetic groups and locally symmetric spaces, while his books reflect a commitment to making mathematical ideas vivid and engaging for a wide range of readers.

He is the author of the forthcoming textbook Group Theory: An Example-Based Introduction (CRC Press). His current project, The Infinite Palace, traces how symmetry, pattern, and ornament shaped the artistic and architectural imagination of medieval al-Andalus.
